Guggul Extract: A Healthy Component Of Myrrh Extract

Myrrh Extract - What Are the Health Benefits?
By Larry L. Taylor

Myrrh extract - What are the health benefits? A supplement that contains Guggul is most important. It is extracted from the Commiphora mukul or Indian myrrh tree.

Myrrh is most commonly used as incense that is made from the dried sap of a number of different trees. Some of types are beneficial to the health, others are not. Only the ones that contain Guggul have medicinal activity.

The myrrh extract benefits have been valued since Ancient times. It was a staple of Ayurvedic medicine, which is still widely practiced throughout India, today. Only in recent years has the active component (Guggul) been identified. Many of our ancient remedies have been evaluated by modern scientists. The thought that folk remedies were less beneficial to our health than modern-day drugs is slowly changing.

Health Benefitt::Anti-Inflammatory

Many of the chronic and life threatening health problems that people develop as they get older are due to chronic inflammation, free radical damage and oxidative stress. Prescription drugs that treat inflammation have little or no infect on chronic inflammation and they cannot prevent free radical damage or oxidative stress. But, natural anti-inflammatories, most of which are antioxidants, are highly beneficial for reducing our risk of diseases caused by chronic inflammation and free radical damage.

Health Benefit::Prevents Oxidation of Fats (Cholesterol)

Cancer and heart disease are out two biggest killers. Chronic inflammation plays a role in both of them. So does oxidation. One of the myrrh extract benefits is to prevent the oxidation of fats. Fat oxidation is what causes the plaque buildup that is seen in the arteries of people with atherosclerosis and other types of heart disease.

Health Benefit::Stronger Heart

Preliminary tests indicate that Guggul can help prevent death of the heart muscle. Other plant extracts, such as resveratrol derived from red grape skins, have been shown to prolong the life of the cells of the heart. It may be possible for people to live longer and have stronger hearts, if they simply take the right combination of supplements.

Health Benefit::Weight Loss

Other myrrh extract benefits include stimulation of the thyroid gland, which would be highly beneficial for people suffering from hypothyroidism. It could also be beneficial for other metabolic disorders and may help people lose weight. It has been shown to inhibit the production of cholesterol in the liver, similar to some of the popular weight loss aids.

Health Benefit::Acne

Because of its anti-inflammatory activity, Guggul can provide relief for arthritis sufferers and other painful conditions. This was one of its ancient uses. It was also used in a variety of skin diseases. Modern researchers have suggested that it could be beneficial for people that suffer from acne, because it seems to inhibit sebum production and bacterial growth in the pores.

Sebum is the oil produced by the glands within the skin. Bacteria, normally present on the skin, multiply in acne and cause these minor infections that we commonly refer to as pimples. Prescription drugs are largely ineffective against acne and are accompanied by numerous side effects. Treating acne is only one of the myrrh extract benefits, but it is of interest to many people.

Guggul Extract: Weight Loss Support

What is Guggul and How Does It Help You Lose Weight?
By Kat Lively

Whatever you do, don't confuse it for a popular Internet search engine.

Now, you may use said search engine to find information on guggul, but more than likely you will find many websites trying to sell you diet products containing the popular extract. It only makes sense, of course, to tout the important ingredients in the products you sell, but when you research what goes into your body to help you burn fat and stay fit, it is important to pay attention to research, not so much hype.

What is Guggul?

In its extracted form, guggul is a type of resin or oil that comes largely from the Commiphora mukul tree. This tree is a thorny, shrub-like plant indigenous to India, where the very versatile tree gum is harvested for a variety of medicinal uses. The tree that yields guggul extract is a close relative to the myrrh, also known in the East for its healing properties.

Taken internally, guggul is used as a holistic treatment for lowering cholesterol levels. This is because guggul is rich in compounds called guggulsterones, from the ketone group of steroids, which have been known to be effective in this respect. Guggulsterones are also believed to lower triglyceride levels in people as well as affect how the thyroid works.

How does Guggul aid in weight loss?

Have you ever met somebody with a weight problem who claimed to have an underactive thyroid? More than likely it is not just an excuse, as some weight problems can be attributed to having an abnormal thyroid. The thyroid is the gland located beneath the larynx (voice box). This gland secretes the hormones that regulate metabolism and growth. An abnormal thyroid which produces less of this hormone may cause a person to suffer from low metabolism. This condition is known as hypothyroidism, and in turn, may be responsible for weight gain.

Medications are available to regulate the thyroid and combat a sluggish metabolism. In various diet supplements, the extract of guggul is used as a stimulant to the thyroid, allowing it to increase this hormone production and speed up the metabolism. The idea is that more energy is expended, more calories are burned, and hopefully weight is lost.

Use of the guggul extract, however, is not without its side effects. People who use diet supplements containing guggul may experience normal weight loss, while other might endure diarrhea, nausea, and/or indigestion. It is always a good idea to consult a physician before taking any kind of weight loss supplement, especially if you are not certain how the ingredients will affect you.

Can guggul help you lose weight? It is possible guggul's effect on the thyroid might be positive in terms of increasing metabolism. However, the body may also experience negative reactions with intake. Always approach such holistic treatments with caution, that you may lose weight smartly and safely.

Guggul Extract: The Benefit To Diabetics

Know the Danger of Diabetes and Learn the Benefit of Guggul Extract
By Michael R

It is commonly known that wound healing will be very slow for a diabetic patient. The slow process of healing leaves scope for wound to get septic. In many cases, if not attended properly and quickly, it may even lead to amputation of limbs. That is the danger. If we deeply analyse the reason for slow healing, it is because of lack of blood circulation near the wound. What caused this for diabetic patient? Now listen to this interesting and simple mechanism that happens in our body. At the end we will see the potency of guggul extract.

The food we eat has one of the important nutrition called carbohydrate. During metabolism, the carbohydrate is converted into sugar. Insulin in our body absorbs the sugar and gives it to the cells. Two important activities happen. The sugar in the blood is maintained and not allowed to go high. The cells in our body get the energy.

Assume for a moment that there is insulin deficiency. Obviously the blood will have more sugar. The cells will not get energy. It is fatal.

We should know that there is no substitute for natural system. If insulin is deficient, we take insulin from outside source to solve the diabetic problem. But it cannot be fool proof. There is already damage done and repairing can only be done. A repaired system cannot be brought to its original mode. In this way, a diabetic patient even if he is more careful about his insulin intake and food habits, he cannot get the benefit of the full natural system. What happens? The sugar in the blood becomes cholesterol and it is deposited in the blood vessel. That is the reason why the blood flow is hampered and not reaching the place near the wound to heal.

When blood vessels are plagued with cholesterol deposits, the arteries etc., are blocked thus free flow of blood is affected. It has the impact near the heart. The vessels near the heart, though stronger than any other place in our body is subjected to strain while pumping. In this way, the strained vessels also get damaged and leads to heart attack.

As I said, nothing can substitute the original system we inherited in our body. However, natural herbs are far better than any other inputs. In this respect, guggul extract can be seen as a solution for reducing cholesterol in diabetic patients.

Guggul extract is the resin from mukhul tree. For over 1000 years, Indians used this extract in their ayurveda system of medicine to reduce blood sugar and consequently to handle cardiovascular problems. The extract is also known as guggulipid.

There are two specific types of guggulsterones viz., E and Z. These have the potency to reduce the cholesterol including synthesis of cholesterol in the liver.

There are many inflammatory markers in our body. They predict adverse cardiovascular events. One of the important predictors is serum levels in C-reactive protein. Guggul extract has the potency to decrease this serum thus getting into the root cause of the cardiovascular diseases.

While it is good to discuss about specific disease and remedy, I believe it is important to see the main reason behind all these diseases. There is only one reason. It is nutrition deficiency. Getting complete planned nutrition is easier said than done. Because, the food we take does not contain all the necessary nutrition our body require all the time. There is imbalance.

The solution is to go in for complete planned natural nutrition supplement to ensure total balance. Unfortunately, the market is flooded with many spurious food supplements, sometimes having imported content from countries where there is lack of awareness about quality food product. We have observed this in the recent past. Hence, one should be very careful in choosing the right nutrition supplement.

I know for sure, a fantastic natural nutrition supplement manufactured under GMP compliant facility in New Zealand. That supplement is derived out of natural herbs and natural salts. The dosage of every herb is prescribed by reputed scientists to get maximum benefit without any side effects. I have been personally using it for several years and I lead a healthy life. This supplement has guggul extract in it.
